A subsidiary of Mid Cork Pallets & Packaging and built on the grounds of its Clondrohid Co. Cork site in January 2020, Cork Green Energy was established following the successful commissioning of their Combined Heat and Power plant. Fuelled by biomass, Cork Green Energy uses state-of-the-art technology to produces 1.2 megawatts of green electricity per hour, which is being supplied directly to the national grid and can power the needs of up to 1,100 homes.

Nothing is wasted though, as a by-product of this process is the generation of heat which Mid Cork Pallets & Packaging use to Heat treat and Kiln Dry pallets to ISPM15 standards and power their 10 onsite kilns.

Further to this, at both its sites in Cork & Meath, Mid Cork Pallets & Packaging are expanding its green electricity credentials and are in the process of installing a 598KWp solar generation facility on 3,359 square metres of unused rooftop space, as well as intelligent LED lighting systems, which will reduce CO2 emissions by 265 tonnes a year.
